About The Challenge for Charity
The MBA Challenge for Charity (C4C) is
a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that draws on the talents,
energy, and resources of MBAs from eight West Coast business
schools to raise funds and volunteer for the Special Olympics
and other charities throughout the year. This year marks the
19th proud anniversary of the organization. Challenge
for Charity’s mission is to support Special Olympics
and family-related local charities and to develop business
leaders with a lifelong commitment to community involvement
and social responsibility. These goals are accomplished
through volunteerism and fundraising which is fostered by
collegial interaction.
The competition begins at the beginning
of the academic school year and finishes in April during
the intramural sports events and final awards weekend at
Stanford GSB. Schools compete on a per capita basis on volunteer
hours and dollars raised for Special Olympics and the school’s
secondary charity, as well as final scores during the inter-C4C
sports competition. The winning school is honored with the
Golden Briefcase.
C4C at the Paul Merage School of Business
Challenge for Charity gives us
the opportunity to represent The Paul Merage School of Business
in the community by aligning itself externally with two
philanthropies: Special Olympics and Share Ourselves. Internally,
Challenge for Charity looks to become the guiding force
in the effort to develop a close-knit family atmosphere/culture
that needs to exist at a small school like ours. We look
to involve the entire community (students, administration,
faculty) in our efforts to raise money for charity, perform
philanthropy, and participate in the C4C Weekend up at Stanford
in April.
